In my late teens and early 20’s I worked in the oilfield and began to be fairly well off, owning my own home at 20 years old. However, I also got into a live-in relationship with a lady which turned negative though the course of time, which really affected me and felt like a serious rejection.

During this time, I began to think and consider a lot more about eternal things, but growing up with no direction in this arena I had no idea what it all meant, until I started working with my brother and his partner in business who had given his life to Jesus a few months prior.

One of the things that he told me that affected me was that he grew up as a strict and faithful Catholic. He knew all about God and Jesus, but now he knew him, which he said made all the difference in the world.

Subsequently in the process of a few weeks I also surrendered to Jesus at the age of 22, in 1981, and have never looked back and it has been the most influential and consequential decision I have ever made.

I began in the ministry in several different expressions shortly after being saved, and in pastoral ministry in 1984, I have pioneered three churches including this one currently and have been pastoring here since 1993.
